According to Neowin, Microsoft wants to replace the “Bloom” wallpaper. Bloom is a wallpaper that looks like an artistic blue flower and has recently become synonymous with Windows 11 in general.

However, Microsoft is thinking about making Windows Spotlight the default wallpaper. If you’ve set your Windows 11 lock screen to show a random photo of a scenic spot every day, Windows Spotlight will do the job.

So far, Microsoft has not announced that it will definitely switch to Bloom. However, the change is currently active in Dev Build 22598, and if it makes it into the master branch, changing photos daily will become the new normal for Windows 11 wallpapers.

An interesting change for Windows 11
It’s unclear why Microsoft wants to remove Bloom from Windows 11’s flagship wallpaper. However, due to the dynamic nature of Windows Spotlight, this could be because it gives the company more freedom to show users what they want them to see.

If you’re using Windows Spotlight for your lock screen, there’s a good chance you’ve seen the little clues that come with them. They usually ask a simple question or invite you to learn more about photography. Clicking on them opens the Edge browser and performs a Bing search on the topic.

These small interactions are sure to benefit Microsoft as they promote the use of Bing and Edge. So by making photos the default wallpaper, Microsoft can hope to increase the number of users who click on these little landmarks for more information.
